Remembering Virginia Tech Massacre Victims
Monday's shootings at Virginia Tech spread shock waves across the country, killing 32 lives. It ended in the blink of an eye. Young, too young to be gone already. Students of all races, ages and genders, shapes and sizes, professors who gave their lives to protect them. It's hard to make sense of death, but is it? How do you make sense of it?
After the shock came the sorrow, the people are united in sorrow and are almost tangible. People reach across the states, from one end of the country to the other, united in their loss and grief. Loved ones, family members, colleagues, classmates, friends have been lost in a tragedy that brought this country to a standstill, falling into the air, unable to breathe. The lost souls in this tragedy are so remembered that the term praise has taken on a whole new meaning and in this case the joy is infinite. Candlelight vigils are held around the people, memorial services are organized, all in an attempt to commemorate a life that ended too soon. Colleague students leave their messages behind on a memorial page created on the Virginia Tech campus while still trying to process the extent of the tragedy
The internet has provided a new outlet for people affected by this tragedy to pay tribute to lost lives and to celebrate them as well. There are a number of messages and prayers on internet forums, blogs, Myspace profiles of victims, families, friends and loved ones, sometimes even strangers, reminding people who have gone away forever with simple texts like "I love from you "to" I think about your smile. " I love you, three such simple words, but also the most beautiful and deepest praise. All who want to express grief, sorrow and pure loss, for the whole world to see, remember the life and the spirits who have been so suddenly taken.
They are gone, but they will live in the hearts and minds of people who are touched, their spirits shine forever.
